Everything was pitch black once Shahara woke back up, and it didn’t take more than a couple of moments for her to realize that it wasn’t because of her eyes trying to adjust. She was blindfolded, back once again to a lying down position and strapped down tightly. Shahara wasn’t even able to gather her thoughts before a large amount of water hit her in the face, forcing her to gasp and choke, and just when she thought she was just about to catch her breath, another wave of water hit her. This happened over and over again until she thought she was going to either drown or cough up her lungs.
“This is what a smart mouth will get you little girl” Her captor said as she continued to cough up the water trying to make its way into her lungs. She didn’t even get the chance to respond before she was assaulted by another bucket of water to the face and an electric shock to the neck. She thought the electric shock hurt bad enough before she was trying to drown, now when she was trying to exhale the water out of her lungs the electric shock was making her muscles spasm and not allowing her to breath. The water had stopped and he allowed her to finally clear out most of the water and catch her breath.
“What do you want from me?” Shahara asked.
“You know damn well what we want from you” her captor responded with an anger in his voice that she hadn’t heard before. The anger in his voice caught her off guard to the point that she didn’t know how to respond. It was about that time that she realized that he had said ‘we’. All this time she had assumed that her captor had been working alone for his own cause, but now it seemed that she might have bigger problems.
“Now, if you would be so kind as to summon your shadow demon friend and have him behave, perhaps we can go back to our previous arrangements” her captor said in a much calmer tone. Shahara wasn’t sure what exactly was going on with her captors sudden mood swings, but she wasn’t too keen on giving him what he wanted.
It didn’t take long for her captor to lose his patience as the water flowed over her face once again, catching her as she was inhaling and forcing her to suck in more water then she would have liked. The water kept coming over and over again until Shahara thought that there was no way she was going to be able to keep from inhaling too much water. Rage suddenly took over as she involuntarily summoned Shadow with the intent of killing her captor. Water hit her in the face again followed quickly by the electric shock once again, forcing her to lose her concentration, allowing Shadow to return to whatever realm he belonged in when he wasn’t by her side.
“Good try little girl, but next time let’s try that without so much emotion” said her captor while she was still trying to cough out the water. Suddenly her table started shifting back into an upright position, allowing her to finally get the rest of the water out of her chest and what she hoped was a sign that the water boarding had come to an end. Shahara could hear her captors footsteps as he walked back around behind her, set something heavy down on the floor and pulled up a metal chair that made a horrible grinding sound against the hard floor that instantly sent chills down her spine.
“Let’s try this again little girl. Why don’t you try summoning the shadow demon once again, but this time all I want him to do is to remove your blindfold and nothing else” said her captor. Shahara gritted her teeth at the request, but quickly decided that she would rather not push him any further today for fear that he might have something worse up his sleeve than what he had already done. Shahara quickly summoned Shadow and mentally instructed him to do nothing but remove her blindfold all while resisting the urge to throw up all over the floor next to her. She felt Shadows cold hand touch the back of her head and untie the blindfold, letting it fall into her lap. Shahara looked into her old friend’s eyes and for the first time in all the time she had known him, she saw pain reflected in his deep silver eyes. It was no illusion that Shadow and herself shared more than just the typical master/slave relationship that everybody assumed was the case, he was like the brother she had lost so long ago, the only other soul besides her father that she ever felt truly close too, and it angered her beyond belief to see Shadow beating himself up for her current predicament.
“Don’t worry old friend, this will all be over before we know it” Shahara said to Shadow before she lost her focus and let Shadow slip away.
“Touching. But it is very unnatural for one to have such feelings towards another being of such hideous nature such as theirs” said her captor. Shahara was still very angry and pulled against the straps holding her down hard enough that she could hear her captor jump out of his seat.
“You little prick. When I get out of here I am going to rip you apart limb by limb and just before you die, I'm going to rip your heart from your chest and let you watch it as it beats one last time before you die” Shahara screamed. She relaxed back down into the chair and noticed that one of the straps had torn just a little on her left wrist where it was attached to the table.
“When you get out of here little girl, it will be in a body bag at the bottom of a frozen lake just outside” her captor said. Shahara felt something hit her really hard in the back of the head before she blacked out.
When Shahara woke up, she was once again blindfolded and lying on her back on the table again. She instinctively held her breath, waiting for the water to once again come pouring down on her face. The seconds turned into a minute and not only was she not bombarded with water to the face, but it was completely silent in her room as well. She laid still for what seemed like forever assessing her current situation. She was pretty sure that by this point that she was alone in the room but she was not strapped to the table like she was before. She was still unable to reach her blindfold, but a plan started forming in her head and she was now grateful to her captor that he had chosen to put the blindfold back on her. Shahara reasoned that she didn’t have too much more time left before they decided to dispose of her, so if she was going to make a move now was the time. Shahara quieted her mind and focused all her energy on listening to her surroundings because if her plan was going to work, she needed to be able to hear her captor before he entered the room.
It didn’t take long for her to hear footsteps just outside her door and she prepared herself and set her plan into motion. Shahara summoned Shadow and instructed him to hide in the shadows along the walls. Shahara heard the door open as familiar footsteps made their way into the room just seconds before the electrical shock from the tendrils ran all throughout her body. The shock only lasted a few more seconds, but it was enough for her to lose all her focus and caused her to lose her grip on Shadow once again.
“I wondered how long it was going to take you to try that. At least it’s good to know that the system works this time” said her captor as Shahara's limbs continued to twitch sporadically. She did nothing but lay there in despair as her one hope of escaping this hell had disappeared before she even had a chance to see it start.
“Has the gravity of your situation finally set in for the little girl? Did you think I would not be prepared for such an occurrence? You're not the first spirit summoner we have tested here, but you are by far the most stubborn. We’ve even misplaced a couple of them just to perfect this defense.”
“I believe I have met one of the ones you misplaced, and that must have been quite a while ago if you think I'm the strongest” Shahara finally said.
“Are you offering to lead us to him?”
“Not a chance. I may not be a very wholesome person but I would not subject someone to such horrendous acts like this without a very good reason, and never to people like you” Shahara responded. Almost instantly the electrical shock ran down her back once again forcing her body to pull against the straps restraining her, cutting into her wrists and ankles as he held onto the button a little longer than usual. When the shock finally subsided, Shahara fell limp onto the table and didn’t move due to the pain that was still running through her body.
“No matter, with your help, I will have gotten everything I need for the next phase of the plan” her captor responded. Shahara felt a pinch in her neck as her captor injected her with something she could only assume was to keep her complacent.
“Now that I know the defenses work, I have prepared a nice little area where I will no longer have to constantly clean you up after one of our little sessions and you can continue to experience our hospitality.”
“Oh screw off” was all Shahara could get out before she passed out once again.
